Manchester City is reportedly planning a summer transfer move to secure the services of Barcelona midfielder, who has a release clause of £500m in his contract, according to reports.

The 20-year-old Barcelona youngster has been able to enjoy a regular first-team start under Xavi Hernandez and his impressive performance for the Catalan giants seems to have attracted Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola being known as a good admirer of the Barcelona wonderkid.

Nico Gonzalez broke into the Barcelona senior team this season, having impressed at their academy and a release clause of £500m has been put into his contract, which is likely as a way to chase off suitors from the Spanish youngster.

The 20-year-old has 20 months left to see the end of his contract at the Camp Nou and with the present financial constraints the Blaugrana is facing, many contracts have been on pause.

Manchester City could however be able to sign the 20-year-old in the summer, should Barcelona fail to extend the contract of the Spanish talents to avoid losing him for free.

Gonzalez has been able to feature in 28 games across all competitions for Barcelona this term.
