Manchester United have been urged to replace club captain Harry Maguire with Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt. Maguire has endured a woeful season, with his latest calamitous performance on show in Tuesday night's lacklustre 1-1 draw at Burnley.
Maguire was central to Raphael Varane's early header being disallowed by VAR after blocking a defender in an offside position.
The 28-year-old was then at fault for Burnley's second-half equaliser, overcommitting in a challenge on Wout Weghorst and allowing Jay Rodriguez to run in behind.
Many fans have questioned why Maguire has remained captain over the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes.
And a former United player believes Rangnick shouldn't even be starting him whilst he's in his prolonged rut of form.
Kleberson believes it's time for Rangnick to take Maguire back out of the team for Victor Lindelof.
He told Paddy Power: "Manchester United look far more assured with Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelöf at the back, rather than Harry Maguire.
"Maguire is an excellent player and a very experienced one. He organises the backline well but has had a tough time this season in the Premier League, particularly in one-vs-one situations and where he has been short of pace. Speed really troubles him.
"By taking a step back out of the team, he will understand how he can improve by seeing what it is that he needs to get better at and how he can play better with the other players around him."
And Kleberson has also called on United to target De Ligt to replace the England international permanently.
"Manchester United need to make some signings at the centre back position to replace Maguire," he explained.
"He's a great player and leader, but there are too many moments that he just doesn't perform, particularly when he's one-on-one or up against pacey players. He needs help defending.
"They need someone faster, stronger in the air, that can anticipate what will happen, and that will be able to stop counter-attacks.
"I like Matthijs de Ligt, Manchester United tried to bring him in a few years ago, but it didn't quite work out. Manchester United need a player like him. They need to get someone in there to do a better job."
