Manchester United travelled to Spain yesterday to face Athletico Madrid in the round off 16 first leg. They were fully prepared to challenge the Spanish giants as most of their key players were fully fit.

The match was goalless until in the 7th minute where Portuguese young star Joao Felix opened the scoring with a diving header to give Athletico Madrid the lead.

The Red Devils tried to unlock Athletico's defence but it was too solid for them. They brought in Antony Elanga in the second half. The Swedish forward only needed five minutes to turn things around. His strike beat Oblak to find the bottom corner.

Antonio Griezman almost gave his side a victory before his strike was denied by the woodwork in the 87th minute. The match ended 1-1 as United managed to grab a late equalizer.

In that match, one of the player who was on top form is Fred. The Brazilian midfielder has been impressive in the recent matches where he has created multiple chances upfront and helped their midfield to remain solid.

He gave Joao Felix and Antonio Griezman a headache to pass their midfield. In their last match against Leeds United, he came off the bench to help United win all the three points.

Fred has been so impressive since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick. Athletico Madrid strikers Joao Felix and Antonio Griezman found it hard to pass their midfield due to the presence of Fred. This means that if he's given more playing time, he can become one of the best midfielders in Europe.

This now means that, Fred top performance in yesterday's match proved he can be unstoppable if he'll continue to start for Manchester United
