Writing in his column for the club website, Cech saved a special mention for the Spaniard in light of his Club World Club triumph.
Upon lifting the global trophy last Saturday, Azpilicueta cemented himself even further into the history books.
He has now won every major competition available to him.
Champions League and Europa League: accounted for. Super Cup: completed it.
His success is all there for people to see, stand back and admire.

Even the greats such as Cech, John Terry and Frank Lampard failed to complete the silverware set quite like Azpilicueta.
“Azpi has now won everything, and that is an amazing achievement. All the credit goes to him,” said the iconic goalkeeper.
“When he arrived in 2012, he came first to compete for his spot.
“He had a long-term injury the year before, so he had had a difficult time before he came to us. He had to start from scratch fighting for his place.
“He is one of those players who never disappoints you. He works hard, he does everything.
“He is an honest player on the pitch, and off the pitch he works hard. You know you can rely on him in any situation.
“That is the key to his success. No matter which manager was in charge, they all knew they could count on him, his attitude, and his qualities.
“Now he has the huge reward of lifting these trophies as a captain.”
A boss’s dream
Across a decade of service at Stamford Bridge, Azpilicueta has played under eight different coaches.
From Roberto Di Matteo, to Jose Mourinho and all the way to Thomas Tuchel, the 32-year-old knows better than anyone about the constant changes in South West London.
But one thing has remained consistent throughout this period: the player himself.
Very few in the modern Premier League era have demonstrated such reliability for such a length of time.
To do so whilst playing in numerous different positions is quite remarkable.
Whether at full-back, centre-back or wing-back, Azpilicueta always gives 100% commitment and dedication, sprinkled with a seasoning of quality.
He might not be part of Chelsea’s core next season, but his legacy will forever live on.
