The Portugal icon, 37, has once again been given the cold shoulder by interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who recently substituted him in their victory against Brentford, sparking a furious reaction.
Ronaldo, who has not scored in 2022, is replaced by Edinson Cavani – and Rangnick admitted the decision is a tactical one.
The Red Devils boss said: “Today it will require a lot of sprinting, chasing balls, a lot of fight for second balls. This best fits the profile for Edinson Cavani which is why he starts today.”
Ronaldo though, is bound to be unhappy in being on the substitutes bench, especially after his last reaction following the Red Devils’ 3-1 win against Brentford in mid-January.
The 37-year-old was taken off by Rangnick with just under 20 minutes to play which brought a less than happy reaction from the former Real Madrid and Juventus star.
After the game though, the former RB Leipzig boss played down his reaction.
“Okay, it is normal. As a striker, he wants to score goals,” Rangnick said
