Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: Cristiano Ronaldo for us is like Michael Jordan for the Chicago Bulls - Eurosport

Manchester United coach Ralf Ragnick could appoint a surprising player as the club captain as the alleged dressing room feud between Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire unfolds. It is believed that Ragnick wants to appoint Cristiano since Maguire has been coming under a lot of scrutinies following a string of poor performances.

While Ronaldo appears to be the obvious choice, with Fernandes in second, a former player has recommended another player to be appointed as club captain.

Ronaldo has not been on the good books of the fans after creating a habit of storming off the pitch disgruntled whenever United lose the match. On the other hand, Fernandes is seen as too emotional and easily carried away.

Former defender Paul Parker believes Maguire should be replaced by David De Gea who is having a resurgent season after being replaced by Dean Henderson towards the end of last season.

"I don't think Harry Maguire should be captain of Manchester United," Parker told BetfredTV. "I think he's got too much going on in his own game to worry about rather than trying to lead a team which he'd only just joined and in a few seconds gets the captaincy."

De Gea is the most respected player in the Manchester United dressing room, given his recent performances and also as he is revered by the staff at United.
