Jordan Henderson is still stunned by what Harry Maguire did in England training
The 'rondo' exercise is well-known to anybody who has seen films from the Liverpool training field. It's a practice in which a group of players pass the ball around in a circle, taking just one touch, while a few of their teammates try to get in the way and take the ball back for themselves.
Rondos are an important component of Reds practice, and they can be quite competitive. However, it seems that this isn't always the case in other parts of the world.
Last night's friendly match between England and Switzerland was preceded by a 'inside training' video posted to the official England YouTube channel, which showed the team's preparations.
Also, a brief clip is gaining traction on social media. Jack Grealish and Nick Pope can be seen attempting to halt the group during a rondo.
As the group reaches the 40-member mark and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson starts speaking out to record the number of successful passes, the tempo picks up.
It's Harry Maguire of Manchester United who chooses to use his left foot to control the ball before landing it with his right. "What are you doing?" the Liverpool midfielder asks Maguire.
Liverpool fans have unsurprisingly been quite ruthless in giving their take on the clip.
@CarlWhite83 tweeted: "He looks disgusted with him, love how serious Henderson takes things." While @Andy_Gardner1 wrote: "Hendo says what the world's been thinking all season."
And @ccoburn015 said "Hendo is just glad he doesn't have to deal with that on a weekly basis", followed by a string of laughing emojis.
Even some United supporters could not resist offering a verdict on Maguire's antics. @whoiszolo explained: "He’s not used to this. All we do at United is run after the ball."
England won 2-1 at Wembley on Saturday evening, with Henderson playing 90 minutes.
